CULTURAL BELT EXPERIENCE - Full day $230 USD pp based on 2 pax
Our favourite and popular tour for people with a day to spare and wanting to get out of Kigali and learn more about the culture and history of Rwanda. This is a full day and then some!
We depart from your hotel at 7.30am and head South along Rwanda's cultural belt filled with history of the nations Kings and old capital. We visit a women's co-operative that supports and sells the handy work of talented village Mama's in the form of colourful weaved basked, earrings and homewares.
Then we continue further south to the former kindgom of Rwanda - Nyanza. Here you will visit a traditional King's home and compound with amazing architecture that is not to be missed - beautiful photo opportunities and very knowledgble guides who will explain the history of this region. Visit the home of Rwanda's last King and see the Royal Cows with some of the hugest horns with your very own eyes!
Southward bound we follow and end up in the nation's education capital of Huye to visit the most comprehensive Ethnographic museum in the East African region. An amazing insight into the history and culture of Rwanda. Post the museum visit we are sure you have worked up a bit of an appetite - We can recommend lunch at a popular restaurant in town (not included).
There is an amazing co-operative handicraft store in this area for all your gift needs - we think this is the best one in the country! Before we leave how about trying Rwanda's yummiest ice cream run by a talented group of women who are also the countries first female traditional drumming troupe (not included)!
After a jam-packed day it's time to head back to Kigali - memories full and maybe even bags full!
You will be leaving Rwanda knowing a lot more than the average tourist who flies in and out of this amazing nation. .
All tours include English speaking guide, activity fees, hotel transfers, local taxes and private transport. Items of a personal nature such as tipping, shopping, drinks and meals/snacks are not included.
